The largest African vulture. The cirison-colored bare skin on the head and neck and the massive greenish-brown bill are diagnostic. The feathers on the flank are whiteand contrast with the dark body. Sexes are similar, and immature resembles adult but has pale pink bare skin on the head and neck, and dark, not white, flanks.
